FAQ's

1. What is Publicity? And what’s the difference between publicity and PR?

Publicity is the effective targeting of your marketing message to the right target market, using the right media. It is focusing resources towards securing valuable media coverage at little or no cost to the client.

2. Why do I need a Publicity and Communication company?

A crisis is an obvious reason. We are experts in crisis management and press control and offer realistic solutions to control any crisis situation. Our first priority, however, is not to let these happen in the first place. As a proactive company, we seek ways to ensure that your company’s media profile is kept as a positive one- we do not operate as a reactive entity.

Other reasons to have an effective and efficient Publicity and Communications company on board are: to grow your business, to make more money, to increase your sales, and lastly, to develop and maintain an effective media presence that will ensure all of these things.

Effective publicity will level the playing fields in advertising. Small companies do not have the advertising budgets and resources of their larger competitors – and great publicity can ensure you the same media profiles as these larger companies – at a fraction of the spend.

In big corporations, where budgets are tightly monitored (and let’s be frank – the marketing budget is the first to be cut), publicity will aid in achieving the objective of senior management without the exorbitant monetary investment required with advertising.

3. Why choose Kezi?

Because we are passionate, results driven, enthusiastic and proactive. We don’t believe in conducting our relationships with media and clients in a traditional way- we pride ourselves on being innovative, strategic and creative. We are a small, streamlined team, targeted on ensuring the success of every project. Going the extra mile is non- negotiable. We have become industry experts in a variety of industries and don’t believe in concentrating in one area of expertise- we are on a continuous growth curve and above all, we love a challenge.

Essentially, you don’t need a creative or unusual product to gain publicity- all you need is a creative angle that is newsworthy, and that meets the marketing strategy. Kezi Communications prides itself on creative, innovative thinking – adding effective angles to ensure your product or service enjoys the media coverage and target market.

While we work in ‘traditional’ media types, we are forward- thinking and flexible, and are constantly exploring alternative marketing and media avenues that will effectively get your message across. This ensures that your publicity campaign is as dynamic as the business environment we work in.

4. Who is your client base?

Our clients range from small one-man organisations, to large global corporate groups, and span across various different industries such as engineering, advertising, filmmaking, post-production, finance, and banking, authors and self development speakers, manufacturers, service providers and national car rental and restaurant industries.

5. What happens if you have competing clients?

It is our policy not to take on competing clients. If we sign you on as a retainer-based account, we can ensure that we will not take on retainer based projects with any competing companies for the duration of your contract. It is our guarantee that our enthusiasm in your brand, product or service is never diluted.

Our other promises include:

To give your our best, always

To keep you alive to all the possibilities out there

6. Do you outsource work?

The Kezi Communications team is supported by an extensive network of freelancing or independent writing, design, production, events management and media relations experts, who are called upon as and when required. Any element of a project which falls beyond our internal scope of expertise will be outsourced to our secondary network- however this will still be effectively project managed by Kezi. We have strong alliances in all these fields, and are confident in the belief that any outsourced work will offer the same service levels and quality results that have made Kezi successful.

7. So I call you, what next?

Our initial one-hour consultation is free of charge. This is your opportunity to express what your concerns are and our opportunity to see how we can help you. Perhaps it is a new product or service you are about to launch, perhaps a new competitor is hurting your bottom-line?

From thereon, we work on a publicity strategy and implementation plan, which can involve newspapers, magazines, radio, television or direct marketing – whatever we think works best for you, your business strategy, and our your budget.

Alternatively, you can hire us to work on a project only, e.g the writing of a generic press release, or project manage something specific such as the creation of a website.

Status reports are written at least once per month, so a strict record is kept of who, where, why and how. Timesheets are also kept on each project / client and are available upon invoicing, including any relevant expense receipts.

8. How do you measure results?

Media measurement is only one aspect of measuring the success of a publicity campaign over a period of time. We have recently adopted a comprehensive media report system designed in line with internationally accepted standards. This will ensure that your media measurement gives you quantitative results, including cost per contact, average tone, total success rate of the campaign (expressed as a percentage), as well as the traditional Advertising Value Equivalent (A.V.E) which many PR companies use in isolation to measure the campaign. Our method effectively measures internal, viral and promotional campaigns together with your media publicity.
